The artwork spins daily at noon, 4 pm, and 9 pm. The entire cycle lasts for about four minutes. The first minute involves the chandelier's slow descent, two minutes of spinning, and the final minute is for the slow ascent of the artwork's return to its original starting position.

Once the 4 pm spin is complete, the chandelier’s LEDs will remain on until 11 pm.

Spinning Chandelier is a 25 foot high, 14 foot wide kinetic sculpture of an 18th century chandelier based on Graham’s 2005 film installation Torqued Chandelier Release. It is made of stainless steel with 602 polyurethane crystals. Three times a day, Spinning Chandelier will lower from its high position above the intersection of Beach and Granville Streets. Once it reaches its low position, 5.5 meters above the street, it will spin at approximately 20 rpm for 4 minutes before making its ascent, rotating gently as it rises back up to its high resting position.
