Ellen Neel
A Kwakwaka'wakw, Neel was the granddaughter of carver Charlie James. Neel came from Alert Bay and helped to revive the traditional art of carving. She had a studio called Totem Arts which opened in 1946 in Stanley Park at Ferguson Point and was a former WWII bunker. The carver died in 1966.
