Sunny Nestler’s visual art practice is rooted in drawing and studies mechanisms of biological life using a process that mimics DNA replication and mutation. They also work in bookmaking, installation, mixed media, performance, and painting. Their subject matter cross pollinates biological processes, DIY communities, and unusual landscapes with the political affect of relatedness and adaptation.
Nestler holds an MFA from Emily Carr University, where they currently teach drawing and natural science classes. Nestler has published work as an illustrator and artist’s book maker, and exhibited and performed throughout North America.
