After receiving his BFA at NSCAD MacWilliam settled in Vancouver. He taught at SFU from 1980-87 and has taught at ECIAD since 1988. He is primarily a painter and has a longstanding interest in abstraction. His work is in collections at the VAG, the CC Art Bank, the AGGV and private collections.
